Antennas and Roof Damage

These days with so many people choosing to cut the cord from cable companies – antennas have seen a resurgence in popularity. People attempt to get as many channels over the airwaves as possible and a good antenna might just help you do that. When it comes to placement – roofs may be the best option for signal but not the best option for roof maintenance.

If you’re thinking about installing an antenna on your roof first check your neighborhood covenants. Some areas do not allow roof antennas and it’s better to find out before purchasing. If you are allowed to have an antenna – consider other options besides roof placement for several reasons.

–       Creating any holes in your roof could lead to potential damage and leaks

–       Antennas can be damaged in storms or blown down by wind causing it to become a dangerous projectile

–       Most antennas today are not grounded and could be struck by lightning that may damage your roof or home itself

If you moved into a home that already has an antenna it’s a good idea to have a roof inspection to make sure there are no existing problems from its placement or installation. Phoenix Roofing provides free inspections and can help you know that your roof is in good condition.  Visit www.phoenixroofingsc.com.
